TDK was established in 1935 as the world’s first commercial manufacturer of ferrite, a magnetic material. Since then, TDK has developed a wide range of products and services centered on their core materials; ferrite and ceramics. Materials technology remains one of the 4 main pillars sustaining TDK.
The second pillar is processing technology which entails harnessing the characteristics of materials to achieve their utmost to bring designs to reality, whether it may be in wirewound or multilayer technologies. The third pillar is evaluation and simulation technology.
The final pillar is engineering technology which make up a large portion of TDK’s investment in quality. TDK from an early stage engaged in in-house production of manufacturing equipment in order to produce the most advanced products more rapidly while maintaining low costs.
Since ferrite is used for almost all inductor cores, TDK has a clear advantage over many of its competitors in manufacturing their own cores.
TDK’s SLF series is a surface mount shielded power inductor that is suitable for DC-DC converter usage in mobile applications. The SLF series is characterized by low profile, low DC resistance and high current handling capacities. Because they are magnetically shielded, these parts can be used in high-density mounting configurations.
