Specifically for LAN applications, EPCOS developed the B78476A series. These magnetic modules were designed for both electrical isolation and suppression of common-mode and differential-mode interference. These modules are available in single, dual and quad-port versions. The electrical isolation can withstand a breakdown voltage of 1500 V AC. Typical applications are 10/100 Base-T, 1000 Base-T as well as PoE.

B78476A8253A3 is a surface mount ferrite toroid, case and potting. This single port POE is a 1000 Base-T magnetics module that is optimized for full duplex applications.

It is compliant with IEEE 802.3af, which describes transmission of power via the Ethernet port. This technology is necessary to implement applications like VoIP where the phone is powered via the Ethernet connection.

Note: B78476A8253A3 could be called out as B78476A8253A003 because EPCOS changed their online ordering code to 15 digits. Both part numbers are correct.
