NS
C Low power – Powerwise Analog-to-Digital Converters
National's Powerwise Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADCs) are the lowest power family of A/D converters on the market. In addition to providing extremely low power consumption over a range of sample rates, each ADC has a very efficient power down feature. For example, a single channel 1Msps PowerWise ADC used in a 10 Ksps application has a typical power consumption of 0.02 mW at 3V.
National's Powerwise ADCs also lower engineering cost. A/D converters with the same channel count and package are interchangeable so one PCB layout supports multiple system designs that require different resolutions and sample rates. And since National's PowerWise A/D converter performance is guaranteed over a range of sample rates instead of a single rate, unique in the industry, one ADC can be used in place of multiple conventional ADCs. This reduces design time, shortens time to market and lowers component stocking cost.
The ADC0831 series are 8-bit successive approximation A/D converters with a serial I/O and configurable input multiplexers with up to 8 channels. The serial I/O is configured to comply with the NSC MICROWIRE™ serial data exchange standard for easy interface to the COPS™ family of processors, and can interface with standard shift registers or µPs.
The 2-, 4- or 8-channel multiplexers are software configured for single-ended or differential inputs as well as channel assignment. The differential analog voltage input allows increasing the common-mode rejection and offsetting the analog zero input voltage value. In addition, the voltage reference input can be adjusted to allow encoding any smaller analog voltage span to the full 8 bits of resolution.
The National ADC0838CCN IS 8-Bit, 8 CH,Serial I/O A/D Converter with Multiplexer Option. This device is offered in an 8 Pin MDIP package
