TDK was established in 1935 as the world’s first commercial manufacturer of ferrite, a magnetic material. Since then, TDK has developed a wide range of products and services centered on their core materials; ferrite and ceramics. Materials technology remains one of the 4 main pillars sustaining TDK.
The second pillar is processing technology which entails harnessing the characteristics of materials to achieve their utmost to bring designs to reality, whether it may be in wire-wound or multi-layer technologies. The third pillar is evaluation and simulation technology.
The final pillar is engineering technology make up a large portion of TDK’s investment in quality. TDK from an early stage engaged in in-house production of manufacturing equipment in order to produce the most advanced products more rapidly while maintaining low costs.
Since ferrite is used for almost all inductor cores, TDK has a clear advantage over many of its competitors in manufacturing their own cores.
TDK’s NLV series is a surface mount molded wire-wound inductor. The product uses metal terminals, which realize excellent connection reliability. Highly heat resistant thermoplastic resin is used to form the exterior package.
Applications include:
- Electronic equipment used in communication infrastructures
- Audio-visual equipment
- Other electronic equipment including HDDs and ODDs
