Waterproof six-pin USB Type-C connector has IP67 rating

Low-profile surface-mount connector includes four shell stakes for stable connection to the PCB

Global Connector Technology (GCT) has launched a waterproof version of its six-pin, mid-mount USB Type-C® connector. The new connector provides a cost-effective way to replace a Micro-USB connector in applications which are exposed to water or other liquids.


The waterproof USB4715 connector, which is ideal for charging applications, is 100% tested for IP67 protection. The low-profile design projects just 4.21 mm above the PCB. An external molded silicone gasket maintains a waterproof seal between the receptacle and panel.


The connector features surface-mount contact pins, and has four through-hole shell stakes which ensure very strong PCB retention.


The USB4715-GF-A connector and its gasket, the USBTJ-04, may be ordered separately, or in kit form with the part number USB4715-GF-A-KIT.
