FTM / Industrial Automation and Industry 4.0 / Eaton — SDCL and SDCH Semi-shielded Inductors
Offering a balance between the high noise immunity of a fully shielded inductor and the low cost of an unshielded inductor, the SDCL and SDCH families of semi-shielded inductors from Eaton provide good performance in challenging operating conditions at a reasonable unit cost.
These inductors have a wire winding on an efficient ferrite core with surface-mount terminals. Shielding is provided by magnetic resin over the winding. This construction yields an inductor which can handle high average current and saturation current and has low dc resistance. This results in low core losses, enabling power-system engineers to realize designs that have high power density and high efficiency.
The SDCL and SDCH inductors are suitable for use in a wide range of buck, boost, and buck-boost power converters, as well as in power filtering applications.
The SDCL family consists of seven series, and the SDCH of five, supplied in packages with a footprint from 2.3 mm x 1.9 mm to 8.3 mm x 8.3 mm, and with a profile ranging from 1 mm to 4 mm. Inductance values range from 0.33 µH to 1 mH.
