Kingbright Infrared LEDs

IR emitters with paired photo-detectors enable proximity sensing applications

Kingbright supplies a choice of infrared LEDs and phototransistors in various package and mounting styles, to give OEMs flexibility in their implementations of applications such as proximity sensing.

 

The Kingbright portfolio of IR emitters, phototransistors and sensors is available in industry-standard surface-mount and through-hole packages. The products operate in a wavelength range from 850 nm to 940 nm, with matching emitter/detector pairs available to provide a high signal-to-noise ratio in sensing applications. Maximum drive current options are 20 mA or 50 mA.

 

System designers also benefit from different options for the optical system. Kingbright supplies various lens designs, and supported viewing angles range from 20° to 160°.

LED package options include:

  • Plastic leaded chip carrier (PLCC)
  • Sub-miniature
  • Top-emitting
  • Right angle
  • Dome lens
  • 3mm through-hole
  • 5mm through-hole

In addition to IR emitters and photo-detectors, Kingbright also supplies:

  • Ambient visible light sensors for use in regulating the brightness of display backlights
  • RGB color sensors, to enable optimization of the color balance of display backlights
