100V MOSFET raises power density in 48V motor-control stages

July 9, 2026

Higher efficiency in 48V motor drives comes from the Diodes Incorporated DMTH10H1M7SPGWQ N-channel power MOSFET, combining very low on-resistance with strong thermal performance in a compact PowerDI8080-5 package.

The DMTH10H1M7SPGWQ is a choice for motor-control hardware because this MOSFET helps to reduce heat loss. This means that the motor-control hardware can be made smaller and cooler. The MOSFET is rated at 100V and has a very low resistance of 1.5mΩ when the voltage is 10V. This makes it perfect for use in steering and braking systems where high current and efficiency is needed.

The DMTH10H1M7SPGWQ can also handle power designs because there is a lot of thermal headroom. The MOSFET can handle a current of up to 352A when it is 25°C and up to 249A when it is 100°C. It can also handle a power dissipation of up to 405W, and works at high temperatures of up to 175°C which makes it perfect for use in automotive applications.

The design of the MOSFET package is also very important. The package uses a format that is 8mm x 8mm and has a small footprint of 64mm² with a height of 1.7mm. The DMTH10H1M7SPGWQ also has some features, like copper clip bonding and low package inductance, that help to reduce heat and interference, which makes it easy to inspect and assemble.

The gullwing format supports automated inspection while the wettable flank construction, and the way it is made, support strong assembly and qualification processes. The PowerDI8080-5 family in a 3-phase brushless motor drive that is built around a microcontroller and gate drivers, shows that the DMTH10H1M7SPGWQ is a good fit for traction-adjacent auxiliaries and other motion subsystems.
