Addendum to PIN195102 - Manufacturing Label and Packing Configuration Standardization Description of Change: The purpose of this addendum is to correct the date from January 20, 2019 to January 20, 2020, in the "3rd paragraph in the 'Description of Change' section. This notification is to inform customers that Cypress will be standardizing its manufacturing labels and tray/tube packing configuration. It may be recalled that the Cypress entity consolidation (following the merger with Spansion Corp) was announced via Product Information Notification PIN174801 in November 2017. As the next phase of the entity consolidation process, Cypress will be adapting a new manufacturing label format for all products and revising shipping configurations for select product shipped in trays and tubes.
Description of Change: Cypress announces an update to the 64kb/256kb processor companion I2C F-RAM product family datasheets to include the oscillator start-up time (tOSC) parameter for the Real Time Clock (RTC). 'tOSC' is the time taken to start the RTC oscillator after it is enabled by setting oscillator enable bit (/OSCEN) to zero (0). Benefit of Change: This change will improve product testing and reduce lead times.

Ramtron's Processor Companion devices combine fast read/write performance and unlimited endurance of nonvolatile F-RAM with a real-time clock (RTC), processor supervisor and other highly-integrated peripherals used in processor-based systems.
All Ramtron F-RAM products have three distinct properties that differentiate them from other nonvolatile memory technologies:
Fast write speed - F-RAM performs read and write operations at the same speed. Because F-RAM writes data at bus speed, there are no delays before the written data becomes nonvolatile. Floating gate memories have long write delays of 5 milliseconds. F-RAM writes in nanoseconds, essential in applications like auto safety systems.
High endurance - F-RAM offers virtually unlimited write endurance, which means it doesn’t wear out like other nonvolatile memory devices. Floating gate devices experience a hard failure and stop writing in as little as 1E5 cycles, making them unsuitable for high-endurance applications.
Low power consumption - F-RAM operates without a charge pump, enabling low power consumption. Floating gate devices demand high voltage during write operations. F-RAM writes at the native voltage of the manufacturing process: 5V, 3V, or even less on more advanced processes.
