What is a Circuit Breaker?

A circuit breaker is a safety device that is used in an electrical panel. It is an electrical device that is available in a variety of sizes and that monitors and controls the amount of amps that are being sent through the electrical wiring. In the event of a power surge in the electrical wiring, a breaker, which is initially in an "on" state, will go to an "off" state and shut down the electrical power leading from that breaker. This can prevent a fire from starting on an overloaded circuit or prevent the destruction of the device drawing the electricity.

Types of Circuit Breakers

There are many different kinds of circuit breakers. At Future Electronics we stock many of the most common types categorized by Type, Number of Poles, Packaging Type and Rated Current. The parametric filters on our website can help refine your search results depending on the required specifications.

The most common values for Rated Current are 5 amps, 10 amps, 15 amps and 20 amps. We also carry circuit breakers with Rated Current as high as 60 amps. The Number of Poles can be between 1 and 4, with 1 pole and 2 poles being the most common values.
