What is FRAM?
FRAM, F-RAM, or ferroelectric random access memory, is a type of non volatile memory which uses ferroelectric film as a capacitor in order to store data (contrary to DRAM, which uses a dielectric layer in order to achieve non volatility). FRAM possesses characteristics of ROM and RAM memory and has the ability of low power consumption. FRAM also has high endurance in write mode as well as tamper resistance. As well, FRAM combines the non volatility of ROM with the high access speed of SRAM and DRAM. Due to the high speed of FRAM, it is replacing EEPROM in several devices. The term FRAM is a trademark of Ramtron International Corporation and is faster than flash memory.
Types of FRAMs
There are many different kinds of FRAMs. At Future Electronics we stock many of the most common types categorized by FRAM type, memory density, memory organization, maximum access time, interface type, temperature range, packaging type and nominal supply voltage. The parametric filters on our website can help refine your search results depending on the required specifications.
The most common types for FRAM type are non volatile FRAM and integrated FRAM. We also carry many other different types of FRAM. Memory density can range from 4 kb to 4 Mb, with the most common sizes being 16 kb, 64 kb, 256 kb and 1 Mb.
FRAMs from Future Electronics
Future Electronics has a full F-RAM semiconductor chip selection that can be used for devices requiring ferroelectric random access memory (RAM) or an SPI FRAM. Simply choose from the F RAM technical attributes below and your search results will quickly be narrowed in order to match your specific F RAM application needs. We deal with Ramtron International Corporation as an F-RAM manufacturer.
Applications for FRAMs:
FRAM is ideal memory for use in smart cards because they need high security and low power consumption. The same can be said about cellular phones and other devices. Because FRAM is a fast type of memory with low power requirements, it has many applications in small consumer devices like handheld phones, PDAs, power meters and security systems. FRAM is also expected to replace EEPROM and SRAM memory for several applications and become a key component in the wireless field.
Choosing the Right FRAM:
When you are looking for the right FRAMs, with the FutureElectronics.com parametric search, you can filter the results by various attributes: by FRAM type (Integrated FRAM, Non Volatile FRAM, State Savers,…), Memory Density (4 kb, 16 kb, 64 kb, 256 kb, …) and Temperature Range to name a few. You will be able to find the right F-RAM semiconductor chip for devices that require ferroelectric random access memory (F RAM) or an SPI FRAM.
FRAMs in Production Ready Packaging or R&D Quantities
If the quantity of FRAMs that you require is less than a full reel, we offer customers many of our FRAM products in tube, tray or individual quantities that will help you avoid unneeded surplus.
In addition, Future Electronics offers clients a unique bonded inventory program that is designed to eliminate potential problems that could arise from an unpredictable supply of products containing raw metals and products with long or erratic lead times.
