What is a Signal Interface?

Signal interfacing is the conversion of one signal type to another. Signal interfaces are devices or instruments that solve important ground loop and signal conversion challenges. They are also used to protect, step down, linearize, share, split, boost and digitize process signals. Examples of signal interface devices include LVDS, UART, USB, RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485.
