VEML6040 Series

On a single chip, the VEML6040 measures the intensity of the red, green, and blue content of the ambient light allowing for calculation of the Correlated Color Temperature (CCT) measured in degrees Kelvin. It also can be used to determine the 'brightness' of the ambient light measured in lux. With this part, various light sources can be identified depending on its visible and infrared content.

The VCNL4040 like the VCNL4020 and VCNL4010 includes an infrared emitter, photodiode for proximity, an ambient light photodiode and signal processing IC all on a single CMOS chip. What is really new about the VCNL4040 is that you can select one of four ambient light ranges. If you take all 65,000 counts that make up the 16-bit resolution and put them in the lux range from 0 to 819, you get 0.0125 lux per count which is very fine resolution. On that note, we consider the VCNL4040 the finest integrated proximity and ambient light sensor available. Samples await you.

VEML6070 is an advanced ultraviolet (UVA) light sensor with I2C protocol interface. VEML6070 incorporates a photodiode, amplifiers, and analog and digital circuits into a single chip. VEML6070's adoption of Filtron™ technology provides the best spectral sensitivity to cover UVA spectrum. Software shutdown mode is provided which reduces power consumption to less than 1 μA.
