Montreal, Canada – Future Electronics, a global leading distributor of electronic components, recently featured the Diodes Incorporated AL5887 36-Channel Linear LED Driver in the latest edition of THE EDGE.
This innovative LED driver offers seamless integration through I2C/SPI and comprehensive diagnostics, making it a versatile solution for a wide range of LED lighting designs.
The AL5887 by Diodes Incorporated is a remarkable 36-channel, linear current LED driver that supports both SPI and I2C communication protocols. This enables a vast and dynamic range of programmable LED currents, enhancing flexibility and customization for LED lighting applications.
Each channel of the AL5887 features an internal 12-bit PWM for color and brightness control. This unique feature makes the driver an ideal choice for managing up to 12 RGB LED modules or 36 single-color LED lighting applications. The device incorporates built-in programmable registers with three distinct banks (A, B, C), allowing for efficient software control of each color. This flexibility facilitates independent color-mixing registers per channel, independent brightness control registers per RGB module, and a 3-bit dithering function that enhances PWM resolution. Furthermore, the driver offers pre-UVLO (undervoltage lockout) and pre-OTP (overtemperature protection) warning features, ensuring early system protection by pulling the fault pin low.
The AL5887 intelligently enters a power-saving mode of 15μA (max) when all LEDs are off for more than 30ms, enhancing energy efficiency and prolonging device lifespan. The driver is available in the wettable W-QFN6060-52/SWP package, ensuring reliable and compact integration.
