What is an eMMC?

eMMC (EMBEDDED MULTIMEDIA CARD) is a type of non-volatile memory storage device, which combines NAND FLASH die with a Flash memory controller, encapsulated in a JEDEC-standard BGA package type.
The embedded controller and the firmware handle the error correction, bad block management, wear leveling and garbage collection functions internally, freeing up the host processor from these tasks.
The small BGA package size (which conforms to the JEDEC standard) and the low power consumption make Kingston eMMC a viable cost effective storage solution for a wide range of embedded, mobile and IoT applications.
