onsemi — AR0144CSSM Image Sensor Module

Future Electronics has launched a converter board which helps design engineers to accelerate the development of robotics and machine vision applications based on the AR0144CSSM image sensor module from onsemi.

The Future Electronics Cyclops system is a converter board which connects a Foxlink FM10FF-724H camera module, which contains an AR0144CSSM unit, to one of two embedded processor boards:

• Either the NXP Semiconductors 8MMINILPD4-EVKB, an evaluation board for the i.MX 8M Mini quad-core processor
• Or the Ka-Ro Electronics QS8M QFN-style Computer-On-Module (COM) board, which is based on the i.MX 8M Mini

The camera module’s AR0144 image sensor offers a wide 150° diagonal field of view, ideal for robotics applications. Programmable through a simple two-wire serial interface, the sensor produces clear, sharp digital pictures. The AR0144 sensor is in a quarter-inch optical format, and offers 1 Mpixel resolution in an active pixel array of 1280 px (H) x 800 px (V).

It incorporates an innovative, 3 µm global-shutter pixel design which is optimized for the accurate capture of fast-moving scenes. It can capture 720 p high-definition video at a rate of 60 frames/s.

When the sensor is supplied in the modular AR0144CSSM configuration, onsemi provides standard connectors and layout configuration, alongside one-time programmable memory. The module has a 9 mm x 30 mm footprint, and is 6.9 mm high.

The AR0144 sensor produces clear, low-noise images of both dim and bright scenes. It provides sophisticated camera functions such as:

• Automatic exposure control
• Windowing
• Row-skip mode
• Column-skip mode
• Pixel binning
• Video and single-frame modes
