The AR0234CS, from onsemi, is a 1/2.6-inch, 2.3 Mpixel CMOS digital image sensor which features an innovative global-shutter pixel design which accurately captures moving scenes at a fast 120 frames per second in full resolution.
The sensor, which has an active-pixel array of 1,920 px x 1,200 px, produces clear, low-noise images in both low-light and bright scenes.
The AR0234CS CMOS image sensor’s MIPI interface has a high data rate. This makes it ideally suited to vision systems which implement artificial intelligence (AI) technology. The AR0234CS has a high frame rate, and low power consumption at full frame rate and full resolution enable vision-system developers to allocate a majority of timing and power budgets to the host processor, rather than to the image sensor.
The AR0234CS is complemented in the onsemi portfolio by the XGS family of CMOS image sensors for high-resolution industrial imaging. The XGS parts are high-performance, low-noise image sensors which offer excellent image quality, and support resolutions from 2 Mpixels to 45 Mpixels.
All XGS devices feature a 3.2 µm pixel capable of producing the low noise and high image quality which are essential in IoT applications such as machine vision and intelligent transportation systems. To simplify and accelerate time-to-market, the XGS devices are based on a common architecture which allows one camera design to be implemented in multiple variants with higher and lower resolution.
The sensor board can be interfaced to the onsemi Demo3 evaluation board, or to the AP1302 evaluation board stacked on the Demo3 evaluation board. The combined kit uses the popular DevSuite software from onsemi to configure the system. The software provides a comprehensive set-up interface, and features for evaluating the sensor’s functions and capabilities.
