Panasonic Industry — SP-Cap GY Series Capacitors

The new SP-Cap GY series of aluminum electrolytic capacitors from Panasonic Industry is aimed at applications in which very low equivalent series resistance (ESR) is required. Featuring a maximum ESR of just 3 mΩ, these capacitors offer the lowest ESR rating on the market.

The electrolyte in the SP-Cap GY capacitors is a conductive polymer which maintains stable capacitance over a wide temperature range. This helps the devices to offer reliable performance in applications that require moderate to high capacitance and voltage at low cost. 

There are currently two capacitors in the SP-Cap GY series:

• The EEF-GY0D821R has a rated voltage of 2 V and capacitance of 820 µF
• The EEF-GY0E681R has a rated voltage of 2.5 V and capacitance of 680 µF

Both parts have a ripple current capacity in the range of 10.2 mA_rms, which enables them to withstand high loads.

When compared to multi-layer ceramic capacitors or pure tantalum capacitors, the SP-Cap GY devices can offer similarly reliable performance, but with fewer units required to provide the required capacitance.  

The SP-Cap GY capacitors have a footprint of 7.3 mm x 4.3 mm, and are just 2.8 mm high.
