Renesas RA8M2 Series of Microcontrollers
1GHz Arm Cortex-M85 and Cortex-M33 Dual-Core High-Performance MCU
The Renesas RA8M2 group features 32-bit general-purpose microcontrollers that combine a 1GHz Arm Cortex-M85 core with Helium Vector Extensions and a 250MHz Cortex-M33 core, delivering over 7300 CoreMark CPU performance. This processing capability makes the RA8M2 family well suited for robotics systems that require fast response, real-time control, and advanced data processing at the edge.
RA8M2 MCUs integrate large on-chip MRAM and SRAM, multiple memory interfaces, and a rich set of peripherals to support efficient robotics system design and reduced bill of materials. The integrated MRAM provides non-volatile, high-reliability storage for critical robotic data such as configuration parameters, calibration values, and system states. With package options ranging from 176 to 303 pins and support for junction temperatures up to 125°C, RA8M2 devices are designed to operate reliably in demanding industrial and embedded robotics environments.
Built-in secure element-like functionality further strengthens robotics platforms by enabling advanced cryptographic protection, immutable storage, and tamper resistance to safeguard data privacy and system integrity. The RA8M2 Series is fully supported by the Renesas Flexible Software Package and a comprehensive ecosystem of hardware and software development tools, helping robotics developers accelerate design and deployment.
