Global Connector Technology (GCT) has expanded its portfolio of low-cost, six-pin USB Type-C® receptacles to include new horizontal, vertical, and mid-mount products. When used in power-only or battery recharging applications, these six-pin receptacles provide the mating functionality of a full-featured USB Type-C connector at a comparable cost to standard micro-USB and dc sockets.
All parts in the series are compatible with all USB Type-C cables and male connectors with up to 24 contacts. The portfolio includes the horizontally-mounted USB4135, the only fully surface-mountable six-pin USB Type-C receptacle on the market.
The vertically-mounted USB4140 is also unique: featuring an industry-best 6.5 mm profile, as well as a stable insulator base, this receptacle offers the designer the option to choose the length of the shell stake to fit the thickness of the PCB used in the application. The shell stakes and two-off additional location pegs help to provide excellent mechanical stability and strength.
