The STMicroelectronics ALED6000 is a step-down switching regulator which can supply up to 3 A dc current to drive high-power LEDs in vehicle exterior lighting. Supporting a wide input-voltage range of 4.5 V to 61 V, the ALED6000 can handle the high voltage transients which can occur in automotive applications.
A low 250 mV voltage drop over the regulator’s sense resistor minimizes power losses and contributes to the device’s high efficiency.
The ALED6000 provides various control and circuit-protection functions. Digital dimming is implemented by driving the dedicated Dim pin. Adjustable current limitation and adjustable switching frequency help designers to reduce the size of a vehicle’s LED lighting circuit. Pulse-by-pulse current sensing, backed by digital frequency scaling, provides effective constant-current protection over various application conditions.
Multiple ALED6000 devices can be synchronized via the Synch pin to prevent beating noise in low-noise applications.
