Abracon Continuous Voltage Oscillators

New continuous-voltage oscillators reduce component count and save BoM cost

Abracon has extended its family of continuous-voltage surface-mount oscillators, introducing the ASFLDV series housed in a 5.0 mm x 3.2 mm ceramic package, and the 7.0 mm x 5.0 mm ASVDV. The new parts complement the existing members of the family, the ASADV, ASDDV and ASEDV series.

All are simple packaged crystal oscillator (SPXO) devices which are easy to implement in circuit designs, and feature low operating current and low average jitter. The oscillators are capable of operating at any voltage between 1.6 V and 3.6 V: this means that designers can use a common local oscillator across a system’s varying bias-voltage scheme, and so reduce component count and bill-of-materials (BoM) cost by avoiding the use of multiple bias-specific clocking sources.

These devices can drive multiple loads, and typically provide better EMI performance than commodity crystal oscillators.

These SPXO products are an effective replacement for MEMS oscillators in applications which do not require high tolerance of shock and vibration. The devices can easily be paired with a microcontroller, and with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi®, or Bluetooth® ICs.
