Maxim Integrated Precision Measurement ICs

Precision measurement ICs double battery life in IoT, industrial and healthcare systems

Maxim Integrated has introduced three new precision measurement devices which combine low-voltage operation and low power consumption, giving greatly extended battery run-times in IoT, industrial, and healthcare applications.

The MAX41400 instrumentation amplifier improves sensor system accuracy by a factor of four and extends battery life by 55% compared to the closest competing product. The extra accuracy results from the low input-offset voltage of 25µV, low noise, and programmable gain. In operation, the MAX41400 draws only 65µA.

The MAX40108 precision operational amplifier operates from a supply voltage as low as 0.9V which is half the value of the nearest competing product. Also offering low power consumption and drawing quiescent current of just 25.5µA, the low-power product allows engineers to double battery life in stand-alone and wireless sensors.

The MAX31343 I²C real-time clock with integrated MEMS oscillator provides timekeeping accuracy of ±5ppm, substantially better than the closest competitor, and equivalent to less than three minutes of deviation per year.

The MAX31343 also offers robust protection thanks to its built-in MEMS resonator. The resonator eliminates the risk of mechanical failure occasioned by the use of a conventional crystal. It also enables Maxim to house the MAX31343 in a space-saving 2.3mm x 2.1mm package which is highly resistant to shock and vibration.

MAX41400 Features

  • Rail-to-rail input/output
  • 130dB common-mode rejection ratio

Evaluation Kits

Board Part Number: MAX41400EVKIT

The MAX41400 evaluation kit provides a platform for evaluating the MAX41400 instrumentation amplifier in a 9-bump wafer-level package. The MAX41400 EVKIT can be used to set the gain of the device via jumper configurations.

Board Part Number: MAX40108EVKIT
The MAX40108 evaluation kit circuit is pre-configured as non-inverting amplifiers, but can be adapted to other topologies by changing a small number of components.

Board Part Number: MAX31343SHLD

The MAX31343 shield is a fully assembled and tested PCB for evaluating the MAX31343 real-time clock. The device is accessed through an I2C serial interface provided by a MAX32625 PICO board.
