FTM / Intelligent Sensing / Panasonic Industry — SN-GCJA5 PM Sensor
Panasonic Industry has introduced a particulate matter (PM) sensor which reliably detects smoke, dust and other unwanted pollutants in the air in homes, offices, factories, and any other indoor environment.
Based on a laser scattering measurement technique, the SN-GCJA5 sensor guarantees the detection of PM2.5, PM10 and PM1 particulates, and so can be used in ventilation and building-automation systems which protect human occupants from breathing in ultra-fine airborne pollutants.
The laser measurement technique offers several benefits, giving the SN-GCJA5 advantages such as:
The sensor uses a laser diode emitter and an integrated photodiode which detects the scattered light reflected from particles floating in the air. A processor inside the sensor analyzes the wave profile of the signals from the photodiode. From this it calculates a mass-density measurement in μg/m3 supplied to the host via an I2C or UART interface.
The SN-GCJA5 sensor is housed in a 37 mm x 37 mm x 12 mm surface-mount package.
