TE Connectivity IHVA 150-200 DC Contactors

DC contactors provide robust, isolated connections for high-current applications

The IHVA 150/200 series of high-voltage DC contactors from TE Connectivity (TE) provides safe connections to high-voltage power sources for Electric Vehicles (EVs), Automated Ground Vehicles (AGVs) and energy-storage installations.

The IHVA 150/200 contactors are designed to be most economical for loads sunk by EVs and AGVs. For loads of 150A and 110V, the contacts are rated for 6,000 cycles; for 200A and 110V,  the contact rating is 5,000 cycles. The contactors have a switching capability ranging between 12V and 1,500V, and a maximum inrush-current capability of 600A.

Unlike many contactors, the IHVA series does not use inert gas for insulation and contact protection. Instead, it uses a mechanical design to eliminate the risk of arcing. This design reduces the cost of the contactors, while eliminating concerns about gas leaks and the environmental impact of using inert gases.

Since the terminal connections of the IHVA contactors are non-polarized, the contactors are easy to install as they can be connected either way. With 14mm clearance and 25mm creepage between the silver-alloy threaded contacts, the contactors offer high insulation. The dielectric withstand voltage between open contacts is 5,600Vrms.

The IHVA 150/200 series offers the option of an auxiliary FASTON contact which can be used to monitor the power contact.
