Vishay VOW3120 Isolated Gate Driver

Optocoupler provides isolated gate-drive input to IGBT or MOSFET

The VOW3120 optocoupler from Vishay is ideally suited to driving the gate of IGBT or MOSFET power switches used in industrial motors and inverters.

 

The VOW3120 consists of an infrared LED optically coupled to an integrated circuit with a power output stage. The operating-voltage range of the output stage is high enough to drive the gate of an IGBT or MOSFET, and the device can directly drive IGBTs with ratings up to 1,200 V and 100 A. For IGBTs with higher ratings, the VOW3120 can be used to drive a discrete power stage which drives the IGBT gate.

 

The VOW3120 features high isolation capability and large creepage and clearance distances. This means it is ideal for applications operating at high working voltages, and for those which must satisfy high pollution criteria.
