Monolithic Power Systems — MP2460 Step-Down Converter

Monolithic Power Supplies has introduced a step-down switching power regulator which achieves high conversion efficiency across a wide load range.

The MP2460 can provide up to 0.6 A of output current from a wide input-voltage range of 4.5 V to 45 V. The output voltage is adjustable in a range between 0.8 V and 0.98 x the input voltage.

The MP2460 uses a high duty cycle and low-dropout mode when the input voltage is low.

The device also achieves high power-conversion efficiency in light-load conditions by scaling down the switching frequency. This reduces switching and gate driving losses

The low-dropout mode and a quiescent current of just 1 μA make the device suitable for use in battery-powered equipment.

The converter features internal soft-start control, a precision current limit, and built-in protection features, such as cycle-by-cycle current limiting, short-circuit protection with hiccup mode, and thermal shutdown.
