Vishay’s VOT8024AM is a new optocoupler which has a phototriac output for use as robust, isolated AC switches in home appliances and industrial equipment.

VOT8024AM is a combination of an optocoupler with a high-voltage power switch. This device can be used to enable a microcontroller to safely switch high-voltage loads such as motors and solenoids on and off. The optocoupler element of the VOT8024 provides high isolation of 3.75kV. This means that it protects low-voltage circuitry, such as a microcontroller, from the high voltages in devices such as motors.
