As part of the Azoteq ProxFusion® family, the IQS370 is a mutual-inductive sensor controller that is designed to measure either absolute linear position or angle, using electromagnetic mutual induction instead of physical contact to obtain these metrics. This enables a fully waterproof construction suitable for use in outdoor environments.
The IQS370 generates an 8-bit measurement resolution with 1kHz report rates, while signal processing options are available to increase to 11-bit at the expense of reduced report rates. Calibration routines for in-factory calibration are available, and the controller is compatible with sensors of sizes ranging from 5mm to 300mm in length or diameter, enabling a wide variety of applications.
Packaged in a QFN20 format, the IQS370 features a low-power mode which is automatically switched into when no movement is detected, drawing less than 15μA. This helps to enable battery-powered devices such as audio equipment to last longer on a single charge. Upon detection of movement, the controller automatically wakes up to normal operation.
