FTM / Connectivity / Renesas — DA14533 Bluetooth Low Energy SoC
The DA14533 has a small footprint and helps reduce bill-of-materials cost, bringing value to a wide range of automotive functions, from tire pressure monitoring to battery management systems.
The DA14533 includes advanced power management features to simplify system integration and reduce power consumption. With its software stack, radio transceiver and baseband processor qualified for compliance with the Bluetooth Core 5.3 specifications, the DA14533 enables developers to get started quickly on projects for automotive wireless applications.
A member of the SmartBond Tiny family, the DA14533 includes an integrated dc-dc buck converter, which accurately adjusts the output voltage to match system requirements. Active system power consumption is lower than that of comparable devices in the market: the SoC only draws 3.5 mA in Transmit mode at 0 dBm, and 2.1 mA in Receive mode, when operating from a 3 V battery power rail. In hibernation mode, with no clock running, current drops to 550 nA.
These power management and power-saving features help to extend the run-time of small battery-powered systems. The DA14533 also allows automotive manufacturers to meet the strict power requirements of tire pressure monitoring systems’ mission profile.
Like other devices in the SmartBond Tiny family, the DA14533 only requires six external components. A single external crystal oscillator is used for both active and sleep modes.
Developing with the DA14533
The Bluetooth Low Energy Development Kit Pro (part number DA14533-00RNDEVKT-P) for the DA14533 includes a motherboard, daughterboard, and cables. It is the ideal platform for evaluating the performance of the DA14533 in applications such as tire pressure monitoring and passive keyless entry.
The kit provides users with the following capabilities:
