FTM / Connectivity / STMicroelectronics — STA8600A Quad-band GNSS Receiver
Reliable positioning is becoming critical in connected vehicles, robots, drones and automated equipment, particularly where tunnels, garages and urban canyons can disrupt satellite visibility. The STA8600ASTR is a TeseoVI automotive positioning receiver IC supporting six global navigation satellite system (GNSS) constellations: GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, BeiDou, QZSS and NAVIC.
The receiver supports standard position, velocity and time (PVT) positioning up to quad-band for submeter accuracy applications. Dead reckoning automotive way (TESEO-DRAW) and dead reckoning unplugged mode (Teseo-DRUM) help maintain positioning performance in harsh environments. This supports location continuity where satellite reception is obstructed or degraded.
The STA8600ASTR provides code phase, carrier phase, and Doppler frequency measurements up to quad-band. Security is built into the secure version of the receiver. The embedded hardware security module (HSM) supports secure boot, secure firmware update, and secure link functions.
Signal-integrity features include anti-jamming and anti-spoofing support. Independent L5 acquisition and tracking, together with Galileo open service navigation message authentication (OSNMA), help mitigate attacks against satellite-positioning signals.
The RF architecture and GNSS baseband are ready to support emerging low Earth orbit (LEO) constellations. This gives designers a forward-looking positioning platform for future connectivity and navigation services.
