FTM / Industrial Robotics & Industry 5.0 / TT Electronics — LRMAP4026 Shunt Resistor
The LRMAP4026 is a new series of high-power, surface-mount shunt resistors from TT Electronics which enables designers to achieve high-performance current sensing in power supplies, motor drives, and battery management systems.
Available in seven low resistance values, these metal alloy resistors have a tolerance of resistance of 1% and a temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) of 50 ppm/°C, supporting stable and precise measurements of current.
The shunt uses a four-terminal Kelvin connection with two separate pairs of electrodes: one for conveying the current through the resistor and the other for sensing the voltage drop. This design increases current-sensing precision.
The LRMAP4026 has a power rating of 5 W when mounted on FR4 board, giving it a maximum current rating of 158 A in theory, although this is restricted by the current-carrying capacity of the PCB traces. The device has high surge tolerance in the presence of inrush current or momentary short circuits.
The shunt resistor’s gullwing design ensures the hotspot is distant from the surface of the PCB, so heat dissipated by the resistor has little effect on the operation of the board.
