FTM / Intelligent Lighting / STMicroelectronics — VD6283 Color Sensor
The VD6283 color sensor from STMicroelectronics performs flicker detection, which allows still and video cameras to eliminate banding and other image artifacts produced by flickering light. The device can also be used for display color and brightness management, and to verify that an artificial light source’s flickering is safe for the human eye.
The VD6283 sensor has six optical channels: one each for red, green, blue, infrared, and visible light, and a clear channel.
Light measurement is fast and accurate. The VD6283 uses hybrid color filters with precise responses allowing accurate computation of the correlated color temperature and brightness.
Flicker detection operates at frequencies between 100 Hz and 2 kHz, and is capable of identifying square LED flicker signals.
The VD6283 is a miniature optical module in a six-ball BGA package which measures 1.83 mm x 1.0 mm x 0.55 mm.
Board Part Number: P-NUCLEO-6283A1
The P-NUCLEO-6283A1 is a complete evaluation kit enabling the designer to develop an application using the VD6283, a color sensor which performs advanced flicker extraction.
