Diodes Incorporated PI7C9X3G808GP PCIe® Packet Switch

8-port PCIe 3.0 packet switch provides design flexibility and power savings

Diodes Incorporated has introduced the PI7C9X3G808GP, a PCIe® 3.0 packet switch capable of satisfying the requirement for high-speed data transfer in the latest data center and telecoms infrastructure installations.

The packet switch supports eight-lane operation, accommodating two-, three-, four-, five-, and eight-port configurations. The switch supports cut-through, store and forward modes, and a packet-forwarding latency of less than 150ns.

The proprietary architecture employed in the PI7C9X3G808GP provides enhanced flexibility and performance. Multiple port- and lane-width combinations are available, as well as Cross-Domain End-Point (CDEP) arrangements. Thanks to its CDEP capabilities, the PI7C9X3G808GP supports fan-out and dual-host connectivity.

The built-in PCIe 3.0 clock buffer reduces component count and helps to limit bill-of-materials costs. The low-power operation of the integrated buffer makes it unique. Three different reference clock options can be used:

  • Common
  • Separate reference no spread
  • Separate reference independent spread

Multiple DMA channels are embedded in the switch to make communication between the host or hosts and connected end-points as efficient as possible.

Built-in power management capabilities ensure that this switch satisfies the most stringent energy-saving requirements. Unused hot-pluggable ports are kept in a low-power state until needed. Under full-load conditions and at a junction temperature of 80°C, the PI7C9X3G808GP consumes only 2.9W.
