New 600 W open-frame power supply combines reliability and efficiency

Murata PQC600 operates at high efficiency from a mains input voltage. Compliant with safety and other standards, this power supply offers the high reliability required by medical and industrial applications.

Murata has introduced the PQC600, an open-frame ac-dc power supply which combines high efficiency and power density. It is ideal for use in medical and industrial applications. 

 

The industrial-grade PQC600 supplies up to 600 W of power in a system which is less than 1U in height. The power supply offers reliable operation backed by certification to the IEC 60601-1 Edition 3 medical safety standard. The safety features include two means of patient protection (MOPP) from primary to secondary, one MOPP from the chassis to ground, and one MOPP from output to chassis.  

 

In addition, the PQC600 complies with the IEC 60601-1-2 4th edition EMC standard, and is suitable for use in medical devices that have Type B or Type BF applied parts. 

 

The PQC600 operates from a universal ac mains input voltage, and provides output-voltage options of 12 V, 24 V, 28 V, 36 V, 48 V or 54 V dc. The output voltage is adjustable via an on-board potentiometer. The PQC600 features a bespoke transformer and has an optimized layout and package design. Operating with forced-air cooling, the power supply achieves impressive efficiency of 95% at full load.  

 

The PQC600 implements technologies including interleaved power factor correction and back-end synchronous rectification, and the compact, layered board design provides for good thermal performance. Droop current sharing enables multiple PQC600 units to be connected in parallel.
