FTM / AI, Security & Encryption / Monolithic Power Systems — MPQ4312 Family Step-Down Converters
The Monolithic Power Systems MPQ4312 is a family of automotive-grade synchronous switching power regulators which operate over a wide 3.3 V to 45 V input-voltage range. The devices draw a very low shut-down current to minimize the drain on car battery-powered applications.
The 45 V MPQ4312 converters, which include internal high- and low-side power MOSFETs, perform highly efficient power conversion, and implement current-mode control for fast loop response. The high conversion efficiency is maintained across a wide load range by scaling down the switching frequency under light-load conditions to reduce switching and gate-driver losses. An open-drain power good signal indicates whether the output is within 95% to 105% of its nominal voltage.
Frequency foldback prevents inductor current runaway during start-up. Thermal shutdown provides reliable, fault-tolerant operation.
A high duty cycle and low-dropout mode are provided for automotive cold-crank conditions.
The MPQ4312 family consists of six parts, all supplied in a 20-lead, 4 mm x 4 mm QFN package:
