The RECOM RPL-5.0 series are buck regulator power modules with an integrated shield inductor to save board space, fitting in a compact 4.0mm x 6.0mm x 1.6mm 24-pad QFN package and weighing only 0.1g. The RPL-5.0 is one of the smallest power modules in its class.
Part of the RPL family of buck converters, the RPL-5.0 outputs 5A with a wide input voltage range of 2.75V DC to 17V DC, and a programmable output range from 0.6V DC to 12V DC using an external resistor divider to suit diverse application requirements such as field-programmable gate array (FPGA) power trees.
With an efficiency rating of up to 90%, these buck regulators are highly efficient. The 10µA leakage current during operation is down to 2µA during stand-by to ensure that the RPL-5.0 remains cool even in demanding conditions.
Protection features in the RPL-5.0 are short-circuit protection (SCP), over-current protection (OCP) with hiccup auto-recovery, and under-voltage lockout (UVLO) to ensure the longevity and safeguarding of downstream devices.
