FTM / Industrial Robotics & Industry 5.0 / Vishay — microBUCK and microBRICK DC-DC Regulators
Vishay supplies two families of integrated dc-dc regulators which provide a ready-made solution for point-of-load (PoL) power supplies.
The microBUCK and microBRICK PoL solutions offer high efficiency while reducing costs. Each family comprises a large portfolio of high-density PoL power supplies with common pin-outs, allowing designers to scale for the best combination of cost and performance.
The microBUCK regulators consist of a PoL regulator and two integrated MOSFETs. The microBRICK regulators contain a PoL regulator, two integrated MOSFETs, and an inductor.
Housed in a 5 mm x 5 mm PowerPAK® package, the SiC47x microBUCK regulators operate over an input-voltage range of 4.5 V to 55 V, and the SiC46x have an input-voltage range of 4.5 V to 60 V.
The microBUCK SiC43x have a narrower input-voltage range of 4.5 V to 24/28 V, and are housed in a 4 mm x 4 mm PowerPAK package. SiC45x regulators in a 5 mm x 5 mm or 5 mm x 7 mm PowerPAK package have an input-voltage range of 4.5 V to 20 V, and, in the case of the SiC450, a maximum output current as high as 40 A.
The microBRICK regulators are housed in a larger 10 mm x 6 mm PowerPAK package. The SiC967 has an input-voltage range of 4.5 V to 60 V and a maximum output current of 6 A. The SiC931 operates over a 4.5 V to 18 V range and has a maximum output of 20 A. The SiC951 produces an output of up to 25 A from an input ranging between 4.5 V and 20 V.

The SiC951EVB-A reference board from Vishay enables a design engineer to evaluate the features and functions of the SiC951 microBRICK™ dc-dc regulator module. It also serves as a reference board design for use in applications.
The SiC951 is an integrated module which requires no external inductor, and only minimal additional components. Compliant with the PMBus 1.3 signaling protocol, this non-isolated buck regulator with integrated MOSFETs and inductor is housed in a 10.6 mm x 6.5 mm x 3 mm package. The regulator supplies a continuous output current of up to 25 A, and 30 A peak.
The output voltage is digitally adjustable in a range from 0.3 V to 5.5 V from a 4.5 V to 20 V input. The regulator operates at switching frequencies up to 1.5 MHz. The architecture of the SiC951 provides a very fast transient response with minimum output capacitance and tight regulation over a broad load range.
The SiC951 has integrated internal compensation and is stable with any type of output capacitor. It incorporates a power-saving scheme which substantially increases light-load efficiency.
The SiC951 allows configuration programs to be stored in non-volatile memory. Operating parameters such as output voltage and output current can be locally stored and used to determine fault behavior. Configuration is firmware-based and field-upgradable.
