FTM / Intelligent Sensing / Renesas — ICL7660 Series Voltage Conversion ICs
The ICL7660S and ICL7660A are monolithic CMOS voltage-conversion ICs which offer substantial performance advantages over similar devices. Direct replacements for the industry-standard ICL7660, these products offer an extended operating supply-voltage range up to 12 V and lower typical supply current of 80 µA.
The ICL7660S and ICL7660A perform supply-voltage conversions from positive to negative over an input-voltage range of 1.5 V to 12 V, producing complementary output voltages of -1.5 V to -12 V. Only two non-critical external capacitors are needed, for the charge pump and charge reservoir functions.
The ICL7660S and ICL7660A can be connected to function as a voltage doubler, generating up to 22.8 V from a 12 V input. These parts can also be used as voltage multipliers or voltage dividers, and for the simple conversion of +5 V to ±5 V power supplies.
Important performance characteristics are guaranteed over the entire commercial and industrial temperature ranges.
A Frequency Boost pin enables the designer to achieve lower output impedance despite using smaller capacitors.
