STMicroelectronics supplies single-chip motor drivers which enable designers of motors or inverters to reduce component count and simplify the system board design.
The STDRIVE601 is a single chip containing three half-bridge gate drivers for N-channel power MOSFETs or IGBTs. It features zero-drop integrated bootstrap diodes as well as a full set of protection functions.
The STDRIVE601, a high-voltage device manufactured with ST’s BCD6s offline technology, can sink 350 mA and source 200 mA at all outputs. Interlocking and dead-time functions prevent cross-conduction.
The device has dedicated Input pins for each output, and a Shut-down pin. The logic inputs are CMOS/TTL-compatible at levels down to 3.3 V, to provide for easy interfacing with control devices. Matched delays between the low- and high-side sections guarantee freedom from distortion and allow for high-frequency operation.
The STDRIVE101 is a low-voltage alternative to the STDRIVE601, and is also suitable for driving three-phase brushless motors. The STDRIVE101 includes three half-bridge gate drivers for N-channel power MOSFETs; each driver has a current capability of 600 mA sink/source. The operating-voltage range is 5.5 V to 75 V.
The device integrates a low-dropout linear regulator which generates the supply voltage for both the low- and high-side gate drivers through a bootstrap circuit. Under-voltage lockout protection on both the low- and high-side sections prevents the power switches from operating in low-efficiency or dangerous conditions.

The EVALSTDRIVE601 demonstration board is a complete three-phase inverter. Its power stage features 650 V STGD6M65DF2 IGBTs. The board supports a three- or single-shunt current-sensing topology.
