The RJ45 connector portfolio from TE Connectivity (TE) is available in various form factors, and includes RJ45 jacks, discrete Ethernet magnetics, and field-installable cable connectors.
The connectors are supplied in two-pair versions for data rates of 10/100Mbits/s, and in four-pair versions for data rates of 1Gbit/10Gbits/s, and supporting the Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat6A standards. They also implement Power-over-Ethernet (PoE), PoE+, and PoE++ capabilities conforming to the requirements of the IEEE802.3at and IEEE802.3bt standards.

These RJ45 jacks support voltage-mode as well as current-mode Ethernet transceivers, providing customers with solutions for almost every industrial Ethernet application.
Improved reliability results from the jacks’ ability to endure continuous operating temperatures up to 85°C. By contrast, standard RJ45 connectors typically have a maximum temperature rating of 70°C. Increased gold-plating thickness reduces the risk of contact corrosion over the connector’s lifetime, increases vibration resistance, and provides for a higher number of mating cycles.
TE jacks also include more EMI springs – ten in the stacked configuration – than competing products, which have just six. This produces superior EMI noise shielding for more reliable connections.
The integrated magnetics eliminate the need for external magnetic components, saving board space and reducing system component count. But TE also supplies Ethernet magnetics for use in applications which require the flexibility of a discrete solution: the use of TE’s Ethernet magnetics as discrete parts allows for a customized Ethernet port layout to meet specific requirements for EMC and/or over-voltage ratings.
