Microchip Switchtec™ PAX Advanced Fabric Gen 4 PCIe Switches
PCIe Fabric Switches Provide Flexibility and Scalability in High-Performance Computing and AI Systems
Microchip has released its Switchtec™ PAX Advanced Fabric Gen 4 PCIe switch family, which offers greater scalability, lower latency, and higher performance than traditional PCIe switches in the complex fabric topologies found in cloud, data center and hyperscale computing systems. Offering very high-speed operation and low power consumption, these switches provide an important hardware building block for developers implementing the latest approaches to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning.
Microchip’s Switchtec PAX PCIe family of switches provides a turnkey fabric solution for scalable multi-host computing systems. These PCIe switches reduce time-to-market for systems requiring sharing of Single Root I/O Virtualization (SR-IOV) solid-state drives, Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) and other PCIe endpoints. Switchtec™ is ideal for GPU workstations, composable general-purpose GPU fabrics, SR-IOV-enabled Flash storage units, disaggregated systems and rack-scale architectures.
These Microchip PAX switches use a system-on-chip architecture which enables the development of customer-specific solutions through firmware customization and enhancements.
The Switchtec PAX PCIe group is the industry’s lowest-power Gen 4 PCIe switches, helping developers to reduce total system power consumption.
