Wire-wound metal power inductors save space in automotive designs

The MCOIL™ LCEN series of metal power inductors from TAIYO YUDEN feature low on-resistance and high current capacity despite being housed in a tiny form factor, enabling smaller automotive infotainment systems.

Based on the popular MCOIL™ ME series in smartphones, TAIYO YUDEN has introduced the LCEN series of power inductors focused on automotive applications featuring low dc resistances down to 9mΩ to reduce conduction losses. With the ongoing electrification of vehicles, these inductors are designed to be used as efficient choke coils in power supply circuits, handling rated currents up to 10.2A. 

 

The inductors are compact to minimize footprint on a printed-circuit board, and contribute to ongoing downsizing of circuitry for on-board chargers and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). 

 

Offering typical inductance ratings between 0.15μH to 4.7μH, designers can use LCEN series for a variety of application needs.
