Diodes Incorporated API772x & API782x Dual-Channel Digital Isolators

High-performance digital isolation with flexible channel configurations and robust industrial-grade reliability

Diodes Incorporated API772x and API782x dual-channel digital isolators are designed to simplify reliable signal isolation in systems where noise immunity, safety certification, and long-term stability are critical. As industrial designs continue to push toward higher switching speeds and denser layouts, maintaining signal integrity across isolation barriers becomes more challenging, especially in environments with high electromagnetic interference.

These families address that challenge by combining strong common-mode transient immunity, low emissions, and high data throughput in compact wide-body packages. With support for up to 100Mbps data rates and a wide 2.5V to 5.5V supply range, they integrate easily into a variety of digital interfaces and control architectures without adding design complexity.

The API772x and API782x series provide flexibility through multiple channel direction configurations and selectable default output states, making them suitable for both unidirectional and bidirectional signal paths. Engineers can also choose between different isolation ratings and package sizes, allowing for optimized designs based on system requirements, whether that means higher creepage distances or space-constrained layouts.

With reinforced isolation compliance aligned to UL, VDE, and CQC standards, these devices enable long-lasting and dependable operation in applications where downtime is not an option.

Evaluation Board

This evaluation board (EVB) describes the evaluation tests of the API772X/API782X universal digital isolators, with standard pin-compatible packages. These evaluated digital isolators include Diodes Incorporated’s (Diodes’) dual-channel digital isolator devices in various packages: 8-pin SO-8, 8-pin SO-8W, 16-pin SO16-W, and 16-pin SO-16WW. This guide also provides the standard pin configurations of the devices for each package, the bill of materials, EVB schematic, PCB layout, and typical laboratory test setup. A typical input and output waveform is also presented. With the help of the EVB and this information, users can quickly start an evaluation test for Diodes’ universal digital isolator products.
