Microchip MIC28514/5/6/7 DC/DC Buck Regulators are adjustable frequency, synchronous buck regulators that feature a unique adaptive on-time control architecture. These regulators are perfectly suited for supplying processor core voltages with an additional benefit: A very low output ripple voltage throughout the entire load range with the use of small output capacitors.
The MIC28514/15 operates over an input supply range of 4.5V to 75V, and provides a regulated output current of up to 5A. The output voltage is adjustable down to 0.6V with an accuracy of ±1%.
The MIC28516/17 operates over an input supply range of 4.5V to 70V and provides a regulated output current of up to 8A. The output voltage is adjustable down to 0.6V, with an accuracy of ±1%.
The MIC28514-17 offer a full suite of features that ensure the protection of the Integrated Circuit (IC) during Fault conditions. These features include Undervoltage Lockout (UVLO) to ensure proper operation under power sag conditions, soft start to reduce inrush current, “Hiccup” mode short-circuit protection and thermal shutdown.
Microchip’s Hyper Speed Control® architecture allows for an ultra-fast transient response, while reducing the output capacitance, and also makes high-VIN/low-VOUT operation possible. This adaptive on-time control architecture combines the advantages of fixed frequency operation and fast transient response in a single device.
