Offline Power Solutions for Smart Home & Adapter-Free Charging

Smart home products continue to evolve at a rapid pace with the proliferation of wireless connectivity and the Internet of Things (IoT). Devices such as smart speakers with AI, smart appliances, wall outlets with multiple Type-C USB-PD ports, smart AC plugs with energy monitoring, and connected light switches to name a few, are becoming ubiquitous and may cause significant increases in home power consumption if not managed efficiently. In many cases, power management is fundamental to ensuring that the end-product is viable or meets the strict limits for standby or no-load consumption set by regulatory bodies. For example, the European Commission (EC) standard for Home Appliances (1275) requires equipment to consume no more than 0.5W in standby or in off mode, and Energy Star’s version 1.1 for Smart Home Energy Management Systems (SHEMS) limits standby consumption of smart lighting control devices to 0.5 W.

In this webinar, we will present the opportunities, challenges, and power solutions for smart homes.
