LED traces its beginning back in the 70’s when commercial LEDs made inroads into the industry as light indicators. Measured in luminous intensity (millicandela), anyone who was told back then that this technology would one day be the mainstream for general illumination would have laughed out loud. Decades and many breakthroughs since, LED technology has almost made extinct all incumbent lighting technologies, and its ripple is now making waves in applications beyond illumination.
