Infineon TLE493D-x3xx XENSIV™ 3D Magnetic Hall-Effect Sensor Family
Serves a wide range of automotive, industrial and consumer applications
Infineon features their new TLE493D-x3xx XENSIV™ 3D Magnetic Hall-Effect Sensor Family, developed according to ISO 26262 and provides built-in diagnosis functions to support functional safety applications up to ASIL B. They measure the magnetic field in three orthogonal dimensions and operates as I²C or SPI bus slave.
Highly versatile, these devices are designed to support an extensive array of applications spanning automotive, industrial, and consumer electronics markets. They are well-suited for functions such as long-stroke linear position measurement, angle detection, and control of various vehicle systems, including interior features, under-the-hood mechanisms, as well as pedal and valve positions. Their ability to capture magnetic fields in three orthogonal directions allows for precise control and reliable feedback across diverse systems from infotainment units to critical powertrain components.
The TLE493D-X3XX series stands out with its ability to operate via I²C or SPI communication interfaces, providing highly accurate 3D magnetic field measurements with excellent sensitivity and stability. These sensors maintain minimal drift over their operational life, with deviations of less than 1.7% for the X and Y axes and 6.75% for the Z-axis, supporting consistent long-term performance.
Thanks to a flexible design and strong platform adaptability, these sensors can help reduce the number of components needed in a system, simplifying integration and lowering overall complexity. They also offer ultra-low power consumption, supported by an integrated wake-up mode, making them ideal for applications where energy efficiency is crucial.
With detection ranges up to ±160 mT, support for both 3.3V and 5V supply voltages, and an extended operating temperature range from –40°C to +150°C, these sensors can meet demanding requirements. Their compact form factor and configurability make them a strong choice for embedded designs.
XENSIV™ 3D Hall sensors are particularly effective in applications such as multifunctional steering wheel controls, navigation and input systems, and advanced automotive infotainment features, where precision and durability are key. By introducing this advanced sensor generation, Infineon reinforces its leadership in magnetic sensing, delivering scalable, high-performance solutions that address the growing need for safety, reliability, and efficiency in modern electronic systems.
