Allegro MicroSystems ACS71240 Current Sensor for Automotive and Industrial Applications

Delivers high-accuracy measurement, fast fault detection, and superior common-mode rejection

The ACS71240 current sensor IC by Allegro MicroSystems is designed to provide precise and reliable current measurement in applications requiring high accuracy and robust protection. Leveraging differential Hall-effect sensing, the device effectively rejects common-mode stray magnetic fields, ensuring stable and accurate performance in harsh environments.

A fast overcurrent fault output, with a factory-programmable trip range from 50% to 200% of the full-scale current, allows rapid response to critical system conditions, improving safety and protecting downstream electronics.

The ACS71240 by Allegro offers non-ratiometric output for immunity to supply noise, and features galvanic isolation to enable safe measurement in high-voltage systems. The QFN package supports a working voltage of 120 VDC, while the SOIC8 package is UL certified to 2400 VRMS and supports up to 420 VDC or 297 VRMS working voltage.

Engineered to reduce power loss, the sensor features low internal conductor resistance: 0.6 mΩ in the QFN package and 1.2 mΩ in the SOIC8 package. An integrated shield minimizes capacitive coupling, significantly suppressing noise from high dv/dt transients.

With a high-bandwidth 120 kHz analog output and factory-trimmed sensitivity, the ACS71240 supports both AC and DC current measurement with excellent accuracy (±1%), enabling fast and precise control in power systems and motor drives.

Compact, low-profile QFN and SOIC8 packages make the ACS71240 ideal for space-constrained designs requiring high performance and reliability.
