The FOD4218 device consists of an infrared emitting diode coupled to a hybrid random phase triac formed with two inverse parallel SCRs which form the triac function capable of driving discrete triacs. The FOD4218 utilizes a high efficiency infrared emitting diode which offers an improved trigger sensitivity. Some key features are: 300mA on-state current, high blocking voltage (800V) and a high trigger sensitivity (1.3mA).
The FOD4218 is a 6-pin DIP Triac Driver. It’s a single channel, through hole Triac with an operating temperature of -55 to +100 degrees Celsius. The detector has an off-state output terminal voltage of 800 Volts and a peak on-state current of 300 mA. The FOD4218 has an isolation voltage of 5000 Vrms.The FOD4218 can be used in an array of isolation applications such as: industrial controls, solid state relays, lighting controls, static power switches, and AC motor starters
